A Holiday Miracle Blog Tour

Today I have a visitor in the form of a brand new Christmas story from award-winner June McCrary Jacobs. I love the holiday season and one of my favorite parts is discovering new heart-warming Christmas stories that fit my mood for the season. This is a novella so it's a perfect length for this busy time of year. I'm looking forward to reading it. Check out more information about the book and June below.

"A classic holiday story filled with faith, service, and a dash of romance."
When her student, six-year-old Mary Noel, survives a car accident over Thanksgiving break, Amber and her new friend, Paul, are determined to cheer her up during the holidays. But Mary Noel’s most painful injury is the loss of her dog. The more withdrawn Mary Noel becomes, the more Amber and Paul need a miracle—a miracle that requires the entire community’s help. "I wanted to portray a wholesome relationship between a man and woman with similar values where their friendship and common goals were the basis for developing a love relationship,” said McCrary Jacobs. “The community of Apple Blossom pulls together to help a family in need and is very successful in their efforts.”

“A Holiday Miracle in Apple Blossom” is available in bookstores and on Amazon.com, BooksAndThings.com, and BarnesAndNoble.com.
You can read an excerpt of this story on Amazon, here

Risking it all for Love by Award-Winning author, Kimberley Montpetit
Ever since her high school boyfriend's death from a car accident three years earlier, Jessica Mason and her hometown of Snow Valley, Montana with all its awful memories have NOT been compatible. Running away to New Orleans on a ballet scholarship, Jessica cringes when she thinks about confronting Pastor John and the community church--she doesn't want to talk about God, not after He took Michael, the boy she was going to marry ever since third grade.
In the local scene of funky New Orleans, Jessica seeks out Madame LaBlanc, hoping Michael will absolve her of her guilt the night of the car accident in a seance, but the spirit world is silent and she fears the grief will drown her.
Finally succumbing to family pressure, Jessica reluctantly returns for Christmas - and the little town of Snow Valley does Christmas BIG. When she visits Michael’s grave in the church yard, Jessica is shocked to meet handsome James Douglas, Pastor John’s nephew, who’s studying for the ministry. No, she is NOT going to be attracted to someone who wants to be a preacher! Definitely not compatible! But James Douglas is unlike any minister-in-training she's ever met. James can not only dish back Jessica’s finely-tuned sarcasm but understands grief all too well, turning Jessica’s world upside down.
Can Jessica forgive herself for that terrible, fateful night? Can she take another risk on love?

Blue Christmas by Lucy McConnell
As head of Snow Valley hospital's fundraising effort, Paisley Hackett barely has time to organize the craft show, cookie decorating party, and the annual Christmas Ball. What she doesn't have time for is falling in love with Clay Jett, the incredibly handsome bass player who sweeps into town. She's been burned by a tourist romance before and, with everything going on, Paisley will have to work overtime to protect her heart from Clay and his swoon-worthy ballads.

The No Stress Holiday Organizer, Review and Great Ideas for this season!

Tis the season! I really can't believe it's already that time of year. It feels like this year has gone by so fast. My new baby is already 4 1/2 months old and it's time to get my Christmas shopping finished up. I like to get all my gifts early so that I can spend the rest of the holiday season enjoying the festivities and outings that we plan as a family.
I signed up to be part of the review team for this handy new organizer.

There are tons of clever tips for planning in here and I love checklists so I'm a fan of all the lists they included. Even if I don't do everything mentioned for my particular party, I can check off what I am planning on doing.
There are great instructions included for things like carving a turkey and recipes for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. I like that there are blank recipe cards printed inside where I can put my favorites. Each of the three holidays also has a section where you can record information about the decorations you have and those you need. This is an excellent feature because we store all of our holiday stuff in a garage loft and often forget what is inside all of those totes!
Another helpful inclusion is a list for the gifts I've purchased and checkmarks for if they are wrapped and ready. I've already started writing down my Christmas To-Do list in this book that fits easily in my purse. If you're looking for a holiday helper, you'll find it in this organizer.
http://blog.cedarfort.com/blog-tour-the-no-stress-holiday-organizer/
Get organized this holiday season! Make your plans for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's as enjoyable for you as it is for your guests. From calendars and checklists to budget sheets and journal pages, this book saves you the time and money to enjoy family traditions old and new-year after year!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The Match Maker, My Review & A Giveaway

Match Maker Book Cover
I'm a big fan of Karey White's contemporary romances. I've read all of her books and enjoyed them quite a bit. Today I'm sharing my review of book #2 in her new series, The Match Maker. I was so eager to read this book because I really wanted to find out what happened to Charlotte and her chances at love after reading The Husband Maker (The Husband Maker, Book 1) Here is my review of book #1 in the Series, The Husband Maker, click here http://rachellewrites.blogspot.com/2014/07/book-review-of-husband-maker-by-karey.html

I liked The Match Maker and its idyllic setting in Scotland as well as San Francisco. The storyline pulls at your heartstrings while still engaging Charlotte in character growth and development that makes this story more and kept me turning the pages faster.
This is definitely part of a series and I was sad to have the book end. Very sad because things weren't turning out how I'd hoped but at the same time it has me itching to get my hands on book #3! I'm intrigued by this story and how White has drawn out the complexities of the typical romance plot to a deeper level in this series. I highly recommend this clean contemporary romance for anyone who loves a good read.

Read on for tasty tidbits in the form of an excerpt from the book and a giveaway!

The Match Maker by Karey White (The Husband Maker #2) (Summary contains spoilers if you have not yet read book #1 The Husband Maker) It’s been six months since Charlotte and Kyle broke up, and the Husband Maker strikes again. Kyle is officially engaged, while Charlotte is still nursing a broken heart. In an effort to get Charlotte out of her rut, she and her best friend decide it’s time for some good old-fashioned matchmaking. While Aleena arranges for Charlotte to meet up with a handsome Scottish tourist, Charlotte gets her two best friends together. But when sparks start to fly between Aleena and Angus, Charlotte is left feeling more alone that ever--at least until the charming Scotsman becomes more than just a safe, rebound guy and teaches her that maybe, just maybe, she can dare to open her heart again.

Here's a fabulous excerpt from The Match Maker:
I should have felt uncomfortable talking about guys and dating with a man I was sort of dating for only the second time, but I didn’t. There was something strangely easy about talking to Flynn. Maybe it was the fact that he lived on the other side of the world that seemed to give me the freedom to say what I was thinking instead of filtering myself. Or maybe it was just that he was warm and friendly and had a quick, good-natured smile.
“Yeah. I’m still sad about that. He’s engaged now.” Flynn waited, like he expected me to say more. “But it’s not just him. I sort of have a dating reputation that isn’t easy to live with.”
“You have a reputation?”
I laughed. “That didn’t come out right. Does a girl having a ‘reputation’ mean the same in Scotland that it does here?” I put air quotes around “reputation.”
“Probably. But you don’t seem like a girl with that kind of reputation, so you must mean something else.”
I nodded. “I do.” And then I told Flynn about being called the husband maker. I didn’t go into specifics about every guy, but enough that he understood I wasn’t joking and that it was a well-earned nickname. He asked a few questions, but mostly he listened without laughing at me.
When I finished talking, he looked thoughtful for a few minutes. I started to think he had nothing to say about the sad tale I had just shared, but finally he spoke.
“You’re lookin’ at it as a bad thing, but I think that’s wrong.”
“There’s a good way to look at it?” I glanced at him skeptically.
“Ya make men think about growin’ up and settlin’ down. So they do.”
“With someone else.” I was glad I needed to watch the road. I didn’t want to look at him looking at me.
“I guess they weren’t the right one for you. But Charlotte—” why did I melt when he said my name?—“ya make them think gettin’ married would be a good thing. It might not be great for you, but I think you should take it as a compliment.”
I didn’t speak. For the second time in two days, someone had chiseled away at the shell that had been forming over my once hopeful heart. I blinked hard. It was one thing to feel comfortable enough with Flynn to tell him about my nickname. It was quite another to melt into a weepy mess when we hardly knew each other. But his words did something to me. They made me a little teary, but that wasn’t all. They softened some of that shell. For more than six months, fear had been calcifying there, making my hope harder and harder to find. Would every man find happiness with someone else? Would there ever be a man who found his happiness in me?
“Thanks, Flynn,” I finally said. I had never been so open about dating and my worries with a man before. I had always been afraid it made me look lacking in some way. But Flynn was easy to talk to. I wondered if it was because this was a short-term arrangement or if it was just Flynn. Whatever it was, the openness was nice.
“Maybe I should be the one who’s scared, aye?” His voice was teasing again.
“You sure you want to call this a date?” I asked. “Are you ready to go home and get married?”
“Ah, Charlotte. You don’t scare me at all.”

The Husband Maker newThe Husband Maker by Karey White Charlotte’s a girl with nicknames. She may not love being called Charles or Chuck, but the hardest nickname to take is the one she was given in college, the one that’s followed her now for too many years. They call her “the husband maker” and sadly, it fits. Every guy she's dated since high school has gone on to marry the next girl they date. Not two or three girls down the road. The very next one. Is she doing something wrong or is she just cursed? When Kyle Aldsworth enters the picture and sweeps her off her feet, Charlotte begins to hope that maybe she's not destined to be single forever. A senator’s son with political aspirations of his own, Kyle's wealthy, handsome, and in need of a wife. Will Charlotte be disappointed yet again, or will she finally be able to make a husband for herself?
