Rachelle's Review:
This is a fabulous summer romance read that I'd recommend when you need a good dose of romance!
Let me tell you why I liked this book! First off, I like my romance novels to have something going on--more than just girl meets guy and rides off into the sunset. Sure it's great if the guy is good-looking and the girl is sweet, but it really gets interesting when the characters come to life and have REAL problems. Connie did this so well. Megan, the main character, connected to me in so many ways. I could feel her trying to be courageous and solve her problems and at the same time I was so invested in her relationship with Bryant that at times I wanted to shake her and TURN the pages faster!
Bryant is the real-deal. I love how he is portrayed as this total hunk, but with brains and heart.
The setting is super fun--on a cruise ship and there are so many reasons to like this book.

I simply could not read fast enough. My husband was making fun of me because he saw me brushing my teeth while reading my Kindle--yep, it's that good.

Not Always Happenstance, My Review for Rachael Anderson's new book

I just love it when I find a new collection of books to love! The Power of the Matchmaker series is delivering everything I hoped for. Each novel stands alone and each story features the interesting matchmaker, Pearl. I think you'll love the latest book. Be sure to check out Broken Things to Mend, if you haven't yet.
  Not Always Happenstance
Not Always Happenstance by Rachael Anderson Lani has lived in Hana, Hawaii for five years. She’s learned to surf, fish, dive, and manage her grandmother’s bed and breakfast. She’s also learned to take one day at a time the way it should be taken—relaxed and unrushed, savoring every moment. But, like a large wave on the brink of breaking, her life is about to crash out of control. A proposal of marriage, a conniving grandmother, a cryptic Asian woman, and a handsome guest, and suddenly everything calm begins to churn, everything clear becomes confused, and all that was normal segues into peculiar. As Lani struggles against the current to hold her ground, she realizes that she can either continue to fight and eventually lose, or take a take a leap of faith, hold her breath, and ride the wave wherever it takes her. ***This book is part of the Power of the Matchmaker series that features one recurring character—the match maker—but it is a STAND-ALONE novel.***

Rachelle's Review:
This story was beautiful. I loved Lani's personality and how much she loved her home in beautiful Maui. Rachael describes the people, culture, and beauty of the land in a way that makes me want to go on vacation, and stay a while! The character of Easton was interesting because I loved the bit of mystery surrounding him. The tentative relationship was fun to read as it developed and I don't want to say anymore, but you'll definitely want to read this book for a sweet romance with yummy kisses. Rachael has written a story that is a witty and well-rounded romance with plenty of scenes you'll want to re-read and enjoy again.

Do you want to take a peek?

Here's a little blurb on the book first:
Proposals and Poison, Wedding Planner Mysteries book #3 Rachelle J. Christensen

Love can be a very dangerous thing.
At least it seems that way to Adri Pyper, the premier wedding planner in Sun Valley, Idaho. When one of her clients dies mysteriously, Adri takes the advice of the local detective and swears she will stay out of the investigation . . . this time. Luke Stetson's involvement in the case, along with the possibility of a kiss between the two, should be enough incentive to keep Adri out of trouble. But when a dog-themed wedding is almost ruined by a suspect, Adri and her assistant, Lorea, are thrust into private eye mode. When poison enters the picture, even a reluctant sleuth can’t steer clear of danger.

I had so much fun writing this story which is set in Sun Valley, Idaho--a gorgeous place to visit year-round! Here's what one of my readers said:

“Cozy mystery meets romantic comedy in this fabulous, fast-paced story.”

“I love a great mystery that keeps my interest and keeps the pages turning. I loved the Hawaiian setting, that was a character on its own. As the story progressed, I enjoyed where the author went with the mystery, doing a perfect job of planting the right amount of seeds to try to throw me off the trail of who the killer was.”—Mindy Holt, reviewer

My Fair Gentleman by Nancy Campbell Allen, A Twist on My Fair Lady!

What a refreshing read this was after the stressful week I've had! This story was absolutely delightful. I'll admit that I'm a sincere fan of My Fair Lady! so when I saw that this story was a twist on that classic, I signed up to read and review.

Here's the blurb for the story:
Jack would rather be at sea than fixing the mistakes of his grandfather, the late Earl of Stansworth. Instead, he finds that inheriting his grandfather's wealth and title and securing the welfare of his sister and mother means joining the ranks of high society and living with the aristocracy. Luckily, Ivy Carslisle, the granddaughter of a dear friend of Jack's late grandmother, is willing to teach him etiquette and properly introduce him into society. Jack soon learns that his challenge isn't surviving his new lifestyle but surviving the conspiracies against him as well as keeping himself from falling madly in love with his new tutor.

Rachelle's Review:
The characters of Ivy and Jack were equally developed and entertaining. I loved reading from each of their perspectives. The Regency era had so many rules and made it so difficult for people to make "love matches" so Ivy had resigned herself to an arranged marriage of sorts. It was wonderful to see how the romance developed and how she worked so hard to keep herself from falling in love with Jack, the roguish sailor turned earl.
The surprising twists, turns, accidents, and betrayals in this story, made it a very fast read. I'm sure if you're lucky enough to snag an afternoon of reading that you'll devour this book!
I hope that Allen will write another story that explores more of Jack's sister, Sophia as her character was wonderfully developed as well and I would like to see what happens with her future.
I received a review copy from the publisher. My opinions are always my own.

Escape to Eden by Rachel McClellan with Book Excerpt

Today I'm happy to spotlight a brand new book by Rachel McClellan. This book looks pretty intense. I haven't read it yet, but there's a little extra for everyone on this blog post from Rachel and a giveaway so check it out!

Run now!

When seventeen-year-old Sage wakes up in a hospital with no memories, her only clue are the words written on her hand. With a deadly disease threatening to wipe out mankind, Sage must find out who she is and why most people would kill to get their hands on her--before it's too late. This fast-paced, futuristic thriller is a spine-tingling read!

Rachel McClellan was born and raised in Idaho, a place secretly known for its supernatural creatures. When she's not in her writing lair, she's partying with her husband and four crazy, yet lovable, children. Rachel's love for storytelling began as a child when the moon first possessed the night. For when the lights went out, her imagination painted a whole new world. And what a scary world it was...

This is so exciting! I get to show you a little sneak peek of the book! Enjoy!

Excerpt

"Stop!" a man shouts. He runs towards us. Two more appear behind him.
Jenna reaches a hand down. "Grab it!"
Colt takes hold and she easily lifts him out. They are all so strong.
"Go up, Sage,” Anthony says. “I've got these guys.”
He's holding the same dagger I'd had in my hand earlier.
"I'm not leaving you alone," I say.
"Three guys is nothing. I'll be fine. Go."
I look up toward where my brother sits waiting for me and then back at Anthony.
"Stop right there and we'll let you live," a guard says. He has a single spike sticking out of his otherwise bald head.
"Don't listen to him Sage," Anthony says. "You're too valuable. Just go before they capture Max again."
This makes me move. I scramble up the ladder. When I'm at the top, I shout down, "Come on! You can make it."
He stares up at me through the narrow opening and smiles. "Change the world," he says just as an invisible blast knocks him to the ground.
